Janine Ban’s leadership at The Perth School of Ballet began early—she took the reins of the former Bonny Parker School of Classical Ballet at just 19 years old. Under her vision and guidance, the school evolved into the thriving institution it is today.
Janine studied an Associate Diploma at WAAPA and is qualified as a Cecchetti Licentiate.
She is known for her dedication to nurturing both technical excellence and artistic expression. Over her long teaching career, she has guided dancers into professional schools and companies, and mentored many who have become gifted teachers themselves.
Janine’s students have been recognised both nationally and internationally, with finalist placements in elite competitions such as the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), Prix de Lausanne, Alana Haines Awards, and the Sydney Eisteddfod—a reflection of her detailed, holistic approach to training.
Janine believes deeply in the value of dance for every student—not only those pursuing careers, but also those dancing for the love of it. Her thoughtful, encouraging approach supports all dancers in reaching their personal best, whether in the studio, on stage, or simply within themselves.
In 2026 Janine was inducted into the Western Australian Women’s Hall of Fame. This honour recognised Janine’s extraordinary contribution to ballet education in Western Australia and the profound influence she has had on generations of dancers.
