tiny tots ballet ages 2.5-4
Tiny Tots Ballet is a fun dance class for our littlest dancers (ages 2.5-4).
We introduce basic dance movements and musicality. Our littlies love to dance to music they recognise and they don’t even know they’re learning new skills! We use fun props that help us all create a make-believe world of dance and music. Children can wear comfortable clothing (most like to come as fairies or pirates or in tutus or leotards), bare feet and hair tied back. Parents are welcome to stay for the first few weeks until children are comfortable being left on their own.
JUNIOR ballet CLASSES AVAILABLE AT OSBORNE PARK & JOLIMONT
JUNIOR ballet ages 4+
Our Junior Ballet classes include Kindy Ballet, Pre Primary Ballet, Primary Ballet, Ballet Foundation and Grade 1 Ballet.
Students learn the foundational skills and development of ballet and contemporary dance in a fun and nurturing environment. They develop confidence and a sense of independence as they learn and expand their dance capabilities. For more information on each level in our Junior Ballet Program, click here.
contemporary
Contemporary Dance is a genre of dance that employs systems and methods found in modern dance.
It draws on modern dance techniques as well as newer philosophies of movement that depart from classical dance techniques by omitting a structured form. Many ballet companies today perform both Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance. To be a well-rounded ballet student, Contemporary Dance is a must.
Modern Dance
Our Contemporary Dance curriculum training works in conjunction with the ISTD Modern Theatre syllabus. We recommend students do both types of classes. Modern Theatre dance stems from the original contemporary dancers such as Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham & Lester Horton. The strength of the Modern syllabus comes from the versatility that it gives students. Along with a solid foundation in contemporary technique, students also learn other styles such as lyrical, blues, hip hop and Spanish.

character
Character dance is the stylised representation of a traditional folk or national dance, mostly from European countries, and uses movements and music which have been adapted for the theatre and are used by many modern-day ballet companies.
The International Character Dance Syllabus (ICDS) is based on the Moiseyev Character dance system from Russia. This style of dance prepares our students with a greater range of movement possibilities, dynamics and musicality and is a welcome addition to the school's established styles of dance - ballet and contemporary. ICDS celebrates the diverse range of historic and traditional dances from various countries and broadens students’ perspective about the many different artistic expressions of dance that exist around the world.
